Soil Stabilization

Subgrades can be stabilized with GeoCrete® and secure a perfect building ground level when the existing sub grade has not enough bearing capacity. A natural concrete plateau can be created upon which a traditional foundation can be situated. The GeoCrete® constructed floor plateau works as an ideal pressure relief surface and prevents reduction in the subgrade underneath. It is also possible even to use the stabilized GeoCrete® floor plateau as the foundation itself. In case of industrial buildings the steel construction framework can be fixated directly into the GeoCrete® foundation. The GeoCrete® feasibility can be extra interesting in case your existing soil on the building site is polluted with contaminations. Both problems can be fixed and combined in one working GeoCrete® method.

The use of inferior building materials can be made possible. Sand and clay of low quality can be upgraded with GeoCrete® so it can be used in road foundations which normally would be dumped out of site. Also contaminated industrial/building aggregates can be stabilized and immobilized in a new constructed GeoCrete® foundations. Also here asphalt and/or concrete layers can be reduced and higher bearing capacities are within reach. The durability and lifetime cycle of roads build on a GeoCrete® foundation is substantially longer comparing with traditional construction methods. The pavement design by stablization method fully complies the IRC37:2012, 2018″Codes.

Not only sand and aggregates can be upgraded with GeoCrete® but also natural clay soils are within reach. For example sea protection dikes which consist of impenetrable clay can be reinforced with GeoCrete®. The instability of protection dikes can be ensured. Also costs can be significantly reduced if instable clay can be reinforced, instead of excavating this material which will lead to higher costs.

The natural soil in protected nature reserve parks can be stabilized as comfortable walkways and bicycle roads. By using Geocrete® the soils can be stabilized while fitting perfectly in a natural surrounding. Pathways looking like natural sandy tracks, but with a compression strength of cement stabilized foundations so that erosion by heavy rainfall is history. Perfectly fit for a natural environment without using any asphalt at all.

What is GeoCrete®

  • An additive mixed with the cement. It is a creamy white powder that consists of alkaline and alkaline earth elements of complex compounds.
  • It stimulates the cement hydration process and combats the negative effects of fulvic and carboxylic acids present in the soil.
  • GeoCrete® is manufactured by Timab Nederlands BV, a Netherlands based company.
  • Timab is a subsidiary of Euro 2.5 Bn turnover Roullier Groupe of Saint Malo, France.
  • Address of Timab Nederlands BV Head Office is as follows:

SOIL STABILIZATION – ACCEPTANCE IN INDIA

Issuance of circular vide ref. no. RW-NH-35075/1/2010-S&R(R) by Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, under the leadership of Hon’ble Union Minister Shri. Nitin Jayram Gadkari Ji, regarding the usage of alternative and new technologies in road construction in State PWD roads, City roads, National Highways etc.

Introduction of new IRC (Indan Road Congress) code IRC:120 for the FDR (Full Depth Reclamation) by soil stabilization method and IRC SP 89 Part2. These codes have been purposely made to promote and publicize the wide usage of soil stabilization in ongoing and upcoming road projects in India.

PSUs like NHIDCL (National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd) has started floating road tenders by soil stabilization pavement design. NHIDCL has been formed on sidelines of NHAI for North Eastern States, States sharing international boundaries.

Issuance of new guidelines by MORTH for PMGSY projects to earmark 10% of the total road length in every State to be executed by alternate technology. A special provision has been made that in the event of road failure no officer will be held accountable.
